Older games work even better in windowed mode because they expect the screen
with 4:3 aspect ratio.

There's a cool setting in at least nvidia's control panel that allows
you to play a game fullscreen but in letterbox mode, so you get two
vertical bar stripes on each side to simulate 4x3 mode. Pretty cool
for playing old games.
