digitalmars.D - News server load becoming more and more an issue
- filgood (11/11) May 17 2012 Hi,
- Paulo Pinto (8/19) May 17 2012 There was a post from Andrei saying that they were looking into
- Andrea Fontana (3/26) May 17 2012 What about a new group on:
- filgood (4/33) May 17 2012 I prefer to use native apps like Paulo.
- Andrei Alexandrescu (4/5) May 17 2012 Things are moving, but to be honest they're moving a lot slower than I'd...
- Manfred Nowak (3/4) May 17 2012 Is the server using the last version of INN at all?
- Nick Sabalausky (3/5) May 17 2012 God no. Google groups is a putrid turd.
- =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Alex_R=F8nne_Petersen?= (6/12) May 17 2012 Just use emails, rather than the web interface. ;)
- Nick Sabalausky (4/17) May 18 2012 That won't work for browsing archives.
Hi, Not sure who looks after the news server that hosts the relevant D newsgroups, but over the last few weeks, the amount of "high load" messages has been increasing at a steady rate, to an extend that it is becoming a real nuisance to read the newsgroups via a classic newsreader like thunderbird (hence using the web forum interface for this message). Can someone please change the settings on the news server to solve this (or move to another server) ? Many thanks, fil

Many thanks, filThere was a post from Andrei saying that they were looking into it, but I feel your pain. Somehow the web interface appears to be more resilient to the post failures, but my Thunderbird and Windows Live Email keep complaining all the time. :( Which is somehow ironic, since I prefer native applications to web based ones.
