c++.announce - Power Down for 1:30...

reply Jan Knepper <jan smartsoft.us> writes:
Soutern New Jersey just had a power down for about 1 hour and 30
minutes... Fortunately I was prepared and already had the generator
ready to go...

Unfortunately the generator run out of gasoline, but that was easily
fixed as well... A piece of hose and my wife's Corvette sitting right
next to it... ;-)

Anyways, the newsgroup should not have experienced any down time,
neither have the websites as far as I know.

Have fun!

Oh, I put it there completely fueled up in case it would run out of gasoline... No way of driving that car in this type of weather anyways...

Well, last time it was empty from the start... This time it was not and gave up on me after about 20 minutes... :-( We use it for outdoor job too. I might this weekend as at least two trees around the house didn't make it through the storm... -- ManiaC++ Jan Knepper

So far we seem to be fine. I will have to check the damage on the
property later today. I know two trees didn't make it. There might be more.

more. There are enough trees around my place that I'd leave if a big windstorm came up. Too dangerous. Glad those two at your place seem to have missed you!

Well, this definitely was a concern. One of the fallen tree is sitting on the back patio in front of the kazibo. It is stuck between two other trees. The funny part is that I have not been able to determine where it came from. It missed the kazibo by a couple of inches. The other one, actually two are hanging at the back corner of the house. Partially on the roof, partially on the side. They both are still connected to the stumb. It's definitely something to be greateful for that the damage seems to be limited so far. -- ManiaC++ Jan Knepper

Yes. I know people who have had trees come right through their bedrooms.

Scary... I've heard once of somebody having a 'crane' (the kind that they use to build houses) come down through the roof of their house about 4 inches from their bed... I am definitely not in line signing up for that experience... -- ManiaC++ Jan Knepper

Yeah, two broken trees... One laying on the back patio, on hanging on the roof/side of the house... -- ManiaC++ Jan Knepper
