digitalmars.D - [ot] D users at Google

reply BCS <none anon.com> writes:
IIRC there are a few D users who work for Google (I know there is now at
least one :D ) but I don't remember who. For that matter, are there other
D users in the Mountain View/San Jose area?

Presumably, they'd be the people getting beaten up and shoved into lockers by the Go developers, so follow the Go dev around and you'll find them (I'm only kidding!)

Are you the one you are referring to? I am a D user who has been working for Microsoft in Redmond for about five months. I know there is at least one other D user at Microsoft, but I suspect there are more.

I know Steve Yegge mentioned D a couple of times in his blogs, it appears he really liked the language (judging from the 2 and a half sentences mentioning the language). And he works for Google IIRC.

Yeah I know a bunch of people at Google who are aware of D. I don't know that it's used at Google though.

At least according to Steve Yegge's blog, Google only allows a few languages to be used. And I think they were C++, Java and Python. And I suppose they have to allow Javascript too, at least if you're doing in-browser code. --bb

I'm still here. :) We should start "The Bay Diggers", short for "The Bay Area D Interest Group". A monthly dinner meeting... Ali

Man, I'm late to the game responding. I'm in the east bay, working in Berkeley. Does that count? =) (I work at Tippett Studio, doing movie VFX, and a coworker also was ordering TDPL, so there's two of us that at least play with D from time to time and watch its progress). -Mike
