I have just gotten my laptop booting under Ubuntu and want to throw a newsgroup reader on it so I don't have to rebut under windows just to read the newsgroup. What readers do people use (and like)?

Thunderbird's alright. Of course you'll get mozilla anti-fanboys telling you it's awful.

I do like KDE, but it's hard to talk about their apps without sounding like you're stuttering. :-) Sean

I also use KNode and find it excellent.

additional question: which reader lets you select a view in which the threads are sorted by the date of the newest post in them?

I might as well add Pan, as that is what I use :) I love mozilla but thunderbird is to bulky, I don't need a mail client too. Same goes for Evolution. I want it separate from my browser. And never heard of knode.
