What, still no caching at finer granularity than modules? Meh. :p Besides my reservation, it is good to see at least one 'independent' speaker. A lot of the news group topics would also make for interesting sessions if they are important enough. -- Marco

There's more room on the dance card for presentations, so if anyone wants to do one, let me know. Andrei & I have plenty of material to fill in any gaps, but we'd prefer to provide a platform for the community.

I'd LOVE to see that conference. Walter, Andrei, you must make absolutely 100% that this will be able somewhere on the internet after the actual conference (or maybe in streaming).

I'd love to do that, but it will be impossible for me. Coming from europe just for a conference (it imply take holidays and a quite expansive travel) isn't really realistic. And I'm pretty sure other europeans can confirm how frustrating this is. Basicaly mostly everything take place in the US, and it is unrealistic to come most of the time.

One thought: ACCU conferences (http://accu.org/index.php/conferences) happen in April each year usually in Oxford but it may shift to Bristol for 2013. Historically the background of ACCU is C and C++ but it has broadened to Java, Python, Go, D, agile processes, etc. Perhaps we should make it a focus of high quality D activity as happened a little a couple of years ago when Andrei and Walter attended. ACCU 2013 will be preceded by or followed by the C++ standards committee meeting, so the committee will be there. A good reason to have more D than C++ seessions :-) --=20 Russel. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D Dr Russel Winder t: +44 20 7585 2200 voip: sip:russel.winder ekiga.n= et 41 Buckmaster Road m: +44 7770 465 077 xmpp: russel winder.org.uk London SW11 1EN, UK w: www.russel.org.uk skype: russel_winder

Great idea – but wasn't ACCU one of those conferences that are prohibitively expensive if your trip isn't paid by some company (might misremember that, though)? Being a student sucks… ;) David

Urrrr.... yes. It is a relatively expensive conference. On the other hand if you get a presentation accepted the cost goes down very significantly. --=20 Russel. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D Dr Russel Winder t: +44 20 7585 2200 voip: sip:russel.winder ekiga.n= et 41 Buckmaster Road m: +44 7770 465 077 xmpp: russel winder.org.uk London SW11 1EN, UK w: www.russel.org.uk skype: russel_winder

That's a big problem for me. My company only pays for conferences that are relevant for the current project, this means only Java and .NET conferences like Jazoon. I was even denied access to go to a free Microsoft C++ conference, because if failed the criteria cited above. The only time I payed for conferences on my own was twice for GDC Europe, when the cheaper tickets were still available under 500€. -- Paulo
