Chrome got into a weird rut. I could actually browse with Firefox but 
Chrome would just wait. This even after a reboot. Then it suddenly 
worked again. Not sure what was going on.

In that case there's also sites that answer "what is my ip". I 
often use the service when I have multiple IPs and need to know 
what is the visible IP in a particular situation.

Just search for "whatismyip" for some free sites you can use.
