This is a partial fix to the VC8/VC9 safe string compilation problems
experienced on Pantheios. (The Pantheios VC8 makefile needs to
have the line -D__STDC_WANT_SECURE_LIB__=0 replaced
with -D_CRT_SECURE_NO_DEPRECATE. The VC9 makefile
needs to be copied from the VC8, and replace the vc8 symbol on
line 29 with vc9)
