c++ - Output Window

I am a newcomer to Digital Mars IDDE. My question is using the simple
programme below, why doesn't "Simple C programme" get printed to the IDDE
output window. When I run the programme the digitalmars windows minimise for
2 or 3 seconds then reappear but nothing written to the output window. The
program works ok using the dos command window. Am I missing something.

#include <stdio.h>

int main(void)
{
    printf("Simple C programme.");

    return 0;

}

Because this is written to a console window.
Change it like:

#include <stdio.h>

int main(void)
{
    printf("Simple C programme.");
    getchar ();

    return 0;
}

And you will get the idea of what is happening.
